On Saturday 26 February we held a Community Day at the Museum to encourage local people to share their photographs and memories of Wells High Street, in preparation for our first exhibition as part of the Search & Learn Project: ‘The Changing Shops of Wells in Photographs’.
We were delighted to be offered an interesting photograph from the early 1900s as a gift, and also welcomed two new loans: a Carnival programme containing various advertisements for
High Street shops, and a series of contemporary photographs of shopfronts. Our partners Somerset Film joined us for the day and captured several interviews with local people. We look forward to seeing the completed film once the exhibition opens in April!
