Make a Donation
Wells & Mendip Museum is a self-funding independent charity, and we rely on the generosity of donors to keep the museum running.
If you wish to make a direct donation you may do so through Virgin Money Giving by clicking on the red button below. Donations can also be made by cheque ("Wells Museum") or bank transfer (please contact us).
Another way to support us is by becoming a Friend of Wells & Mendip Museum.
You may also donate at the museum itself. You will find our donation box at the museum shop.

Museum Volunteers
Volunteers fulfil many roles in the museum, including front-of-house, curatorial, archives, library development, gardening, and maintenance.
Vacancies for these roles occur frequently, especially for the front-of-house. Please email the museum manager to check if there are vacancies, to register your interest, or for full role descriptions. Alternatively, drop into the museum and have a chat with one of our volunteers who will be able to give you an application form.

Current Vacancies

Front-of-House Volunteer: Mornings or Afternoons
We are currently looking for front-of-house volunteers. At present the museum is only open on Saturdays, but we hope to open on more days soon.
Mornings: 10.00am to 1.00pm (10.00am to 1.30pm in the summer)
Afternoons: 1.00pm to 4.00pm (1.30pm to 4.30pm in the summer).
Front-of-house volunteers coordinate the smooth running of the reception area in the museum by extending a warm and informative welcome to all visitors. This is a key role and you must be happy working in a varied customer-orientated environment. Tasks include running the museum shop and dealing with museum queries.
This role will suit someone who has an enthusiastic, friendly manner, enjoys meeting people, and is computer literate. You should be happy to work as part of a team, but equally happy to work alone when necessary.
